My sister’s book comes
out next week — she’s nervous — there’s
no reason for that.

Rachel,

SO – I finished Amy’s book last night – and – fell in love with her, with you, your mother, Emily…..and wanted to “google” her this a.m., and found you first. Lucky both of you, to have sisters such as each other. I don’t know what I would do without “my Kathi”.

All very fun too b/c of so common threads: I went to Georgetown, tho’ I am 52 so “MUCH OLDER”; my daughter went to Cornell (‘2006), so I fell in love with Ithaca, as well as the drive from northern NJ to Ithaca during the four years she let us share her college experience with her — “CAROLINE” a town named “CAROLINE” always enchanted me; my son went to Wm & Mary (‘2008), but I sobbed uncontrollably en route home from dropping him off — unlike your sister apparently holding it together. And, when I saw reference to Edith Wharton too, well, then I knew that this book fell into my hands for a reason.

Rachel: when next you see Amy, give her a hug from Karen of Caldwell, whose life would not be what it is without two mighty grandmothers, outragous aunts (living and dead) such as Janet, Nancy, Abbie, Agnes, Essie and more (of Buskirk, NY fame) and a sister who drives her crazy, but understands her. Add to that two daughters (same re: crazy and understanding) – and wow oh wow — what WOULD we do with our girlfriends, related and otherwise?

Have a great day, and, will try to find a way to get to a B&N sometime soon to see you, and your mighty queen sister.

-Karen
